The NSW Tourism Awards celebrate the best of the best in the industry across many categories and Shoalhaven stars shone brightly at the Gala event in Sydney on Thursday night at Luna Park.
Shoalhaven City Council Mayor Findley said she was incredibly proud of the campaign being recognised and acknowledged in the tourism industry.
“I am so proud of Shoalhaven and the 100 Beach Challenge Campaign for this achievement.” Clr Findley said.
“Shoalhaven City Council’s commitment to a skilled in-house marketing team has shown great results. Our Tourism team do a great job promoting our region and our front line tourism staff along with our volunteer Shoalhaven Ambassadors deserve this acknowledgement -well done!”
“The 100 Beach Challenge has encouraged visitors and residents alike to the Shoalhaven to explore the South Coast differently, heading away from the well-trodden paths and visiting new beaches.”
“We know how spectacular the Shoalhaven is and sharing new memories and new places with visitors to our region is incredibly important in showcasing our region.”
Shoalhaven Tourism Manager Coralie Bell says: “What an achievement for the Shoalhaven, we are so proud that as a regional area we are punching above our weight in this industry! Tourism is an important driver of a wide range of jobs, contributing around 6500 jobs and bringing around $852million into the region every year. It’s clear we have some top operators in the region, many of which attract a higher yield customer and stimulate the off-season visitor economy helping keep people in jobs year round.“ Coralie said.
The Shoalhaven region was represented across seven categories:
– Cupitt’s for Tourism Wineries, distilleries & Breweries; Tourism Restaurants & Catering Services; and Excellence in Food Tourism (Gold — Hall of Fame and Gold Winners)
